Why Torrevieja is perfect for families
The city offers an excellent combination of nature, beaches and outdoor activities that make it particularly attractive for families with children. Highlights include the Parque Natural de las Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja with the famous Laguna Rosa and birdwatching trails, the long sandy beach at La Mata, and several smaller coves that are ideal for children.
Families can also enjoy the Parque de las Naciones with its large lake and play areas, the Parque de La Siesta, the unique floating submarine museum S-61 Delfín, and the beautiful seafront promenades. In addition, there is a wide range of water sports, water parks, markets and cultural activities throughout the year.
Practical help for families
Torrevieja provides a special children’s guide that helps families discover the city in a fun and easy way. The combination of safe beaches, green spaces, and a wide range of activities makes the city a complete destination where families can spend quality time together.
A growing network in the Valencia region
With this award, Torrevieja joins other family-friendly destinations in the Comunidad Valenciana such as Valencia, Peñíscola and Alcalà de Xivert – Alcossebre. The Sello de Turismo Familiar was created in 2013 to help families find places that are well-adapted to their needs when travelling.
The seal is especially useful for families with several children, as it highlights destinations that offer suitable services, activities and infrastructure. Around 200 places across Spain currently hold the certification.
Good news for expats and tourists
For families living on or visiting the Costa Blanca, this recognition confirms what many already know: Torrevieja is a great place for children. Safe beaches, plenty of green areas, and a relaxed atmosphere make it easy to enjoy family holidays or day trips without stress.
The award also strengthens Torrevieja’s position as one of the leading family destinations in the Mediterranean, which is positive for both tourism and the local community.
