Three monumental works will transform the port into an open-air art space until 2027
A major new cultural attraction has arrived in Torrevieja. Three monumental sculptures by internationally renowned Spanish artist Manolo Valdés are being installed in the port area, creating a new route where contemporary art meets the sea and everyday life.

Three powerful works in dialogue with the sea
The exhibition brings together three distinctive pieces that showcase different aspects of Manolo Valdés’s artistic language. Reina Mariana, made in aluminium in 2019, reinterprets the famous portrait of Queen Mariana of Austria by Velázquez in a monumental contemporary form.
Clio Silver, created in 2021 and the largest of the three, is made of polished aluminium and stainless steel. Its reflective surfaces interact beautifully with the changing Mediterranean light throughout the day.
Ariela, also from 2019, offers a more contained scale while maintaining the powerful formal presence that characterises Valdés’s work. Together, the three sculptures create a walking route that invites residents and visitors to discover art in an open, accessible setting.
Art that becomes part of daily life
Unlike traditional museum exhibitions, these works are placed directly in the port environment, where people walk, meet and enjoy the sea. The project aims to bring high-level contemporary art closer to everyone — not just art lovers — by integrating it into one of the city’s most popular public spaces.
Mayor Eduardo Dolón highlighted that the sculptures will add cultural value to the port and help project a modern, dynamic image of Torrevieja beyond its beaches and climate.
A long-term gift to the city
The exhibition, promoted by Grupo Hozono Global in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja, will remain in place until the end of October 2027. This gives both residents and the many tourists who visit the Costa Blanca plenty of time to experience the works at different times of day and in different seasons.
For expats and visitors, this is a wonderful opportunity to combine a stroll along the waterfront with an encounter with internationally significant contemporary art — right in the heart of Torrevieja’s port.
