CECOPAL Reviews Storm Impact in Torrevieja

Emergency shelter extended and municipal services reinforced after heavy rainfall across the city.

Torrevieja’s CECOPAL (Municipal Operational Coordination Center) held a follow-up meeting this Friday evening to assess the effects of the day’s storms, which brought around 80 litres of rain per square metre, most of it falling after 3:00 p.m. Although the alert level has returned to orange, residents are urged to remain cautious and follow official safety guidance.

The committee decided to keep the emergency shelter at the Tavi y Carmona Sports Pavilion open until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday for 40 homeless individuals. The shelter is being managed by Civil Protection, the Red Cross, the Local Police, and the Civil Guard.

Municipal departments — including Parks and Gardens, Street Cleaning, Beaches, Public Lighting, and AGAMED — will continue working through the night to restore normal conditions and repair any storm-related damage. Urban transport services, which were suspended for two hours due to flooding, have now resumed.

Mayor Eduardo Dolón thanked all CECOPAL personnel for their coordination, professionalism, and swift response during the emergency. Later in the day, he received visits from the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, and the President of the Alicante Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, who inspected affected areas and the local fire station.
