Key information

  • Contract value: €10.37 million (13% below budget)
  • Construction time: 8 months
  • Expected completion: Spring 2027
  • Includes large shade pergolas and new inclusive playground

What will the new park offer?

The new urban park will include large areas for relaxation, walking and socialising. A major highlight is the installation of over 800 square metres of organic-shaped pergolas that will provide extensive shade — especially welcome during the hot summer months.

The park will also feature a brand new inclusive playground with seven specially designed play elements that can be enjoyed by children of all abilities. These include a boat, whale, lighthouse with net, hammock arch, locomotive, transatlantic boat and starfish with slide.

Strong focus on families

The project has been designed with families in mind. The combination of shaded areas, inclusive play equipment and green spaces will make the park a popular destination for both locals and visitors with children. It forms part of Torrevieja’s ongoing effort to create more high-quality public spaces that improve quality of life and support family-friendly tourism.

Good value for money

The contract was awarded with a 13% saving compared to the original budget. The winning consortium (ABALA Infraestructuras – ORTHEM) also included all the optional improvements proposed by the city, adding extra value without increasing the cost to the municipality.

Thirteen companies participated in the tender, showing strong interest in the project.

Timeline

Work is expected to begin in August 2026 and take around eight months. If everything goes according to plan, the new park should be ready for use in spring 2027.

This new green lung will add another attractive public space to Torrevieja and strengthen the city’s offer as a family-friendly destination on the Costa Blanca.
