1. Respect the sun
The UV index is high. Use SPF 50+, wear a hat and sunglasses, and avoid direct sun between 12 and 16.
2. Stay hydrated
Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Keep a bottle with you at all times.
3. Learn the local rhythm
Many shops and restaurants close for siesta in the afternoon. Plan your day accordingly.
4. Embrace the sea
The Mediterranean is your best cooling friend. Swim often – it’s refreshing and great exercise.
5. San Juan Night (23-24 June)
Don’t miss the big beach bonfires. It’s one of the most atmospheric nights of the summer.
6. Use fans and air conditioning wisely
Ceiling fans make a big difference at night. Keep windows closed during the hottest hours.
7. Mosquito protection
Especially in the evening. Use repellent and be prepared near green areas.
8. Book in advance
Popular restaurants fill up quickly in July and August.
9. Enjoy the long evenings
The sun sets late. Use the cooler evenings for walks on the promenade or beach.
10. Slow down
Life moves at a different pace here in summer. Take time to enjoy it.
