Music, Theatre and Flamenco Light Up Torrevieja This Weekend

A tribute to Joaquín Sabina, a family musical based on “The Princess and the Pea,” and the return of “Flamenco & Sal” bring three cultural highlights to the city.

Torrevieja is set for a vibrant weekend filled with music, theatre and dance, as three major cultural events take place across the city’s venues.

On Friday, 24 October, at 9 p.m., the Municipal Theatre hosts “500 Noches: Sabina en las Venas”, a musical tribute to Spanish songwriter Joaquín Sabina. Widely acclaimed by critics and audiences as the best homage to the artist from Úbeda, the show takes spectators on a journey through Sabina’s long and colourful career. Led by lead singer Darío Luís, whose deep admiration and knowledge of Sabina’s music shape every performance, 500 Noches has toured Spain since its 2016 debut on Madrid’s Gran Vía, playing to packed theatres and major national festivals.

On Sunday, 26 October, at 5 p.m., the same stage welcomes the family production “La Princesa y el Guisante” (The Princess and the Pea). Presented by La Roda Producciones, this reimagined version of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale blends humour, fantasy and a modern reflection on freedom and destiny. With vivid performances, creative staging and a mix of satire and magic, the play tells the story of a prince searching for true love, a princess unaware of her fate, and a royal family determined to arrange her marriage. Beyond the fairy tale, it becomes a touching celebration of love, courage and the right to choose one’s own path.

Later that evening, “Flamenco & Sal: Esencia Flamenca” returns to the Jardines del Auditorio. Starting at 8:30 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.), the event promises an enchanting open-air performance featuring the Ballet Flamenco de Ramón Zamaro. Accompanied by dancers Mamen Baños, Raquel Fernández and Guillermo Ramos, Zamaro leads an evening of passion, rhythm and artistry that combines the power of traditional flamenco with a contemporary touch.

The event also includes a wine or cava tasting and a Gastro Zone run by QtalGourmet Torrevieja, offering gourmet selections of cheeses, cured meats and signature tapas boxes such as the “Box Ibérico” and “Box Flamenco.” For the first time, guests can pre-purchase tasting menus at a discounted price until Saturday, 25 October.

Tickets for all three shows — 500 Noches: Sabina en las Venas, La Princesa y el Guisante and Flamenco & Sal – Esencia Flamenca — are available at the Municipal Theatre box office and online at www.culturatorrevieja.com
