New leisure area and renovated port infrastructure expected to be completed by late 2025, officials confirm during site visit
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the Valencian regional minister for Infrastructure, Vicente Martínez Mus, visited the port area today to review progress on a major transformation project. The initiative, driven by a public-private partnership, represents a €120 million investment aimed at turning the port into a key leisure and tourism hub.
Martínez Mus emphasized the collaboration between the Generalitat, the local council, and private stakeholders, praising the project’s scale and ambition. “We are proud of the teamwork involved and remain committed to meeting deadlines,” he said.
The infrastructure minister also highlighted another initiative under development — the Eras de la Sal project — for which €135,000 has already been earmarked for the construction of a new auditorium.
Mayor Dolón confirmed that two major contracts are about to be awarded. These include redevelopment of the promenade along the fishing dock and reurbanization of the surrounding area, plus upgrades to the fairground zone. Together, these works amount to €17 million (€5 million and €12 million, respectively).
Finally, the mayor announced that the restoration of the historic Muelle Mínguez pier — unique in Spain — has been granted a two-month extension and will be completed by the end of 2025. Once finished, the site will be open for public visits.
