Major step towards completing the new port-city connection

The Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja has awarded the final works around the Dique de Levante to the company CHM Obras e Infraestructuras for €3,580,480.29 (including VAT). The contract was awarded 8.88% below the tender budget, saving the city almost €349,000.

  • Contract value: €3.58 million (8.88% below budget)
  • Execution time: 8 months
  • Company: CHM Obras e Infraestructuras, S.A.
  • Includes lighting, electricity, public toilets, paving and safety features

What will the works include?

The project will complete the surroundings of the Dique de Levante and the auxiliary infrastructure of the new accesses. The main works include electrical installations, interior and exterior lighting, telecommunications, air conditioning and ventilation, fire protection systems, ornamental fountains, paving, carpentry, urban equipment and public toilets in the port area.

Extra improvements included in the winning bid

In addition to the base project, the winning company offered several valuable improvements: an extended guarantee period of 45 months, a stainless steel mesh structure for shaded areas with climbing plants, additional safety railings, and suspended LED luminaires for better pedestrian lighting.

Part of the big port transformation

This contract is one of the final pieces in the major transformation of Torrevieja’s waterfront. The Dique de Levante area is becoming a key connection point between the city and the port, offering a fully equipped, accessible and attractive public space for both residents and visitors.

With the works expected to take eight months, the new area should be fully operational in early 2027, completing one of the most important urban projects in recent years in Torrevieja.

Good news for the city

The significant saving of nearly €350,000 while maintaining all planned features shows responsible management of public funds. The additional improvements offered by the contractor will further enhance the quality and functionality of the new space.

For expats and tourists, this project means better access to the port area, improved lighting and safety, and a more attractive environment for walking and enjoying the seafront.
