Major investment of over €325,000 to strengthen security for a growing city

If you live in Torrevieja, you’ve probably noticed the city is getting bigger and busier. To keep up with the growing population, the local police are now getting a significant upgrade to their vehicle fleet.

The City Council has signed a four-year renting contract worth **€325,770** to add eight new vehicles to the Policía Local fleet. This includes three new hybrid patrol SUVs, one 9-seater police van, and four fully equipped motorcycles.

Key facts

  • 8 new police vehicles acquired
  • Investment: €325,770 over 4 years
  • Includes 3 hybrid patrol SUVs, 1 large van and 4 motorcycles
  • Full maintenance, insurance and replacement vehicles included
  • Aimed at improving response times and citizen safety

Modern vehicles for a growing city

With Torrevieja now exceeding 113,000 inhabitants, the police need reliable and up-to-date equipment to do their job effectively. The new vehicles are equipped with the latest technology, including LED emergency lights, TETRA communication systems, and all necessary safety equipment.

Mayor Eduardo Dolón, together with the Councillor for Security and other officials, presented the new vehicles, emphasising that this investment will help the police serve the community better as the city continues to grow.

A practical and forward-thinking solution

Instead of buying the vehicles outright, the city chose a renting contract that includes full maintenance, repairs, tyres, insurance, and replacement vehicles if needed. This ensures the police always have modern, well-functioning vehicles without unexpected large repair costs.

The new hybrid patrol cars will also help reduce fuel consumption and emissions, showing a balance between operational needs and environmental consideration.

Better safety for everyone

This upgrade comes at a time when Torrevieja is experiencing steady population growth. Having a well-equipped police force helps maintain safety and quick response times, something both long-time residents and new arrivals appreciate.

It’s another practical step by the city to keep services in line with the needs of a modern, international and growing community.
