The Green North – escaping the heat
For many families from Madrid and Andalusia, the cool, green north of Spain is the ultimate summer escape. Mild temperatures, dramatic landscapes and excellent food make it a favourite.

The sunny Mediterranean coast, especially the Costa Blanca, is packed with Spanish families. The Balearic and Canary Islands are also very popular among Spaniards themselves.
The tradition of “el pueblo”
One of the most beloved Spanish summer traditions is returning to the family village. Many city dwellers head inland to spend time with grandparents, enjoy local fiestas and slow down completely.
