New University Hub Opens in Torrevieja

AGAMED and three universities move into modern building in September

Torrevieja is taking a major step forward in higher education. A new building that will house both the offices of AGAMED and a shared University Seat for three different universities is set to open in early September 2026.

A new era for education in Torrevieja

For the first time in the city’s history, the University of Alicante (UA), Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), and the National Distance Education University (UNED) will share the same modern facilities.

Modern facilities for students and staff

The University Seat occupies the upper three floors and includes multiple classrooms, meeting rooms, staff offices, and a versatile hall. A highlight is the rooftop “ágora universitaria” – an open space for cultural and academic activities.

The City Council has invested more than €347,000 in high-quality furniture and advanced technological equipment.

Strengthening Torrevieja as a university city

The new hub will significantly expand educational opportunities. UMH will introduce a new bilingual degree in Business Management and Tourism, while UA and UNED will expand their programmes. This development is expected to bring hundreds of students into the city centre daily.

A sustainable and future-proof project

The building has been constructed with strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. It marks a major milestone in Torrevieja’s ambition to become a true university city on the Costa Blanca.
