Basic training program aims to help seniors over 50 use smartphones for daily tasks
The University of Alicante’s Torrevieja campus, in collaboration with the City Council’s departments for Seniors, Innovation and Citizen Services, is offering the practical course “Your Mobile from Scratch” through the UA Permanent University program. The course is designed to teach participants — mainly those aged 50 and above — how to use their smartphones effectively, focusing on essential daily operations such as calls, internet, and email.
Classes will take place at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center (Calle de Mar, 28) between October and December 2025, on mornings from 9:30 to 13:30. Sessions are scheduled for October 21 and 28; November 4, 11, 18 and 25; and December 2, 9, 11 (Thursday) and 16. The course will be taught by María Estela Saquete Boro, professor at the Polytechnic School of the UA.
The fee is €68, covering student registration, university ID card, and insurance. A certificate will be awarded to those attending at least 80% of sessions. Enrollment opens on September 1 and will remain available until October 6 or until all spots are filled. Registration can be completed via the online form or in person at the UA Torrevieja office, Monday to Friday, 11:00–13:00, by submitting ID documents and contact details.
