Torrevieja launches photo contest celebrating intergenerational moments
The Torrevieja City Council has opened submissions for the 7th “Homenaje al Mayor” Photography Contest, running until September 14. This year’s theme, “Stories That Are Inherited,” invites pensioners over 60 years old, registered in Torrevieja, to capture everyday moments shared between seniors and younger generations.
Participants can submit up to two photographs, either by email to terceraedad@torrevieja.eu or in person at the Concejalía de Gente Mayor (C/ Maldonado, nº 5) in a sealed envelope with their name and phone number.
The awards ceremony will take place on October 1, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, during a gala at the Torrevieja Municipal Theater. In the 2024 edition, winners included Manuel Marcos Vizan (“LOS IMPRESCINDIBLES”), Purificación Cabalar (“La Lola y yo”), José Antonio Pérez (“Chiguito que te vas a calar”), and Maritza Chacón, who received the Enrique López Joga Special Award for “Atardecer en cabo Cervera”.
