Torrevieja Removes Risky Palm Tree

Preventive action ensures safety along Paseo Vista Alegre

The Torrevieja City Council, through its Department of Parks and Gardens, has removed a dangerously leaning palm tree from Paseo Vista Alegre to ensure pedestrian safety. The operation was carried out by Actúa, the company responsible for maintaining the city’s green areas, in a controlled manner without incidents.

This preventive measure followed a recent incident where a palm tree was blown down by strong winds in the same area. Technicians subsequently inspected other trees and identified one at imminent risk of falling.

Councillor Concha Sala emphasized that maintaining the city’s urban trees is a priority to preserve Torrevieja’s green heritage and protect residents and visitors. Many Phoenix Dactylifera palms in the area are 60–70 years old, prompting increased monitoring and conservation efforts. Plans are also underway to plant new palm trees to maintain the city’s characteristic landscape.
