San Emigdio Festivities at Parque de las Naciones

Torrevieja prepares for traditional celebrations honoring its co-patron and earthquake protector.

Parque de las Naciones in Torrevieja will host the San Emigdio festivities from Thursday, July 31, to Sunday, August 3. The event, organized by the City Council’s Department of Festivities, celebrates the town’s co-patron and protector against earthquakes, writes El País.

The program begins on July 31 with the opening of the “Barraca Popular” at 9:00 p.m., followed by a large prize draw and live music. On Friday, August 1, festivities continue at the same time with another prize draw and DJ performance.

Saturday, August 2, starts at 7:00 p.m. with a children’s entertainment show and a free snack for all attending kids. Later, at 9:00 p.m., another prize draw will take place, followed by live music from 11:30 p.m.

The celebrations conclude on Sunday, August 3, with a Eucharist at 8:00 p.m. in the San Emigdio Chapel inside the park. A solemn procession with the saint’s image, accompanied by the Unión Musical Torrevejense band, will follow through nearby streets. The festivities will end with a fireworks display.
