Photo exhibition celebrates 100 years of Taibilla Water Community

Travelling exhibit highlights a century of water supply and development across southeastern Spain

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with Juan Cascales, president of the Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla (MCT), and the councillor for Culture, Antonio Quesada, officially opened a new travelling photo exhibition this morning at the scenic lookout near the former Tintero on Playa del Cura.

Titled “Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla: 100 Years of Supplying Water and Progress”, the exhibition showcases the institution’s history ahead of its centenary. Organised by the MCT, it consists of twelve 120×120 cm panels that outline key milestones from its founding on October 4, 1927, to the present day. It features pivotal moments such as the construction of major hydraulic infrastructures and the extension of water services to municipalities across the region.

The final two panels are dedicated to Torrevieja’s relationship with the MCT, including a historic document dated July 31, 1946, in which the then-mayor requested the town’s inclusion in the water community. Also on display are photos of the construction and current state of the infrastructure that ensures water supply to the local population.

The exhibition remains open in Torrevieja until July 29.
