Low-cost airline gives passengers more space for hand luggage ahead of summer
Ryanair has announced new rules for free cabin baggage, increasing the allowed size from 40×20×25 cm to 40×30×20 cm. The change means passengers now get up to 20 percent more space for the small personal bag that can be carried on board at no extra charge.
Under new EU guidelines, all major airlines must offer a standardised minimum cabin bag size. Ryanair goes a step further by adjusting its policy in time for the busy summer travel period. The new limits will be rolled out gradually in July as the airline updates its bag sizers at airports.
Priority passengers can still bring an extra cabin bag up to 55×40×20 cm (max 10 kg), while non-priority travellers are limited to the newly expanded personal bag. Travellers are advised to check their bag dimensions carefully to avoid extra fees at the gate.
The updated policy aims to make packing easier and align requirements across Europe’s biggest airlines, according to reports including BBC.
