Wine, music and top theatre shows take over the city this weekend
Torrevieja will host an intense cultural weekend from 22 to 25 May with events for all tastes. On Thursday 22 May, the Teatro Municipal will once again present “Sabor & Cultura”, an exclusive sensory experience combining wines from Finca Torremilanos, gourmet food and live piano music. All seats are sold out, showing the popularity of this unique tasting event.
On Saturday 24 May, the acclaimed international comedy “La Función que Sale Mal” will hit the Teatro Municipal stage at 20:00. Known worldwide for its chaotic humour and countless stage mishaps, the show has already entertained over eight million spectators. Tickets start from just €15 and include a special pre-show at 19:45.
At the same time, the Auditorio Internacional will offer “Me cuesta tanto olvidarte”, the ultimate tribute to Mecano. Singer Belén Alarcón and her band recreate the iconic Spanish pop group with authentic sound, staging and choreography. Fans can enjoy hits like “Hijo de la Luna” and “Hoy no me puedo levantar” for around 120 minutes of nostalgia.
The weekend will close on Sunday 25 May with “La Colección”, starring José Sacristán and Ana Marzoa. This profound play by Juan Mayorga explores legacy, memory and the meaning of objects we leave behind. Praised by El País and other critics, the production promises top-class theatre for €15. Tickets for all shows are available at the Teatro Municipal box office or online at www.culturatorrevieja.com.
